Jay-Z has recently received a total of 83 Grammy nominations in his career – and even overtakes Paul McCartney.
Jay-Z (51) is officially the artist with the most Grammy nominations in music history.
At the upcoming 64th Grammy Awards the artist has been nominated for three awards, which brings him to a total of 83 Grammy nominations in his life. He has finally overtaken producer Quincy Jones (88), with whom he was tied with 80 nominations. In addition, Jay-Z has overtaken the former Beatle Paul McCartney (79), who has 81 Grammy nominations in the bag.
The US rapper’s first Grammy nomination was a while ago: in 1999 he was nominated for best rap album, best rap solo performance and best rap performance as a duo or group. In fact, he won the award for the best rap album with “Vol. 2 … Hard Knock Life” that year. He has now won 23 prizes.
Most successful woman at the Grammys: Beyoncé
He and his wife are in good company. Beyoncé (40) received her 28th Grammy at the 63rd event earlier this year – making her the most awarded musician in history. She’s also hot on her husband’s heels for nominations, with a total of 79 Grammy nominations throughout her career.
The 64th Grammy Awards will take place in Los Angeles on January 31, 2022.
