fun, news, tips … what else?

Following the health defense council on Monday, December 27, Prime Minister Jean Castex and Minister of Health Olivier Véran held a press conference to announce the new measures adopted by the government. But it was a blunder by the Prime Minister that caught the attention.

In recent weeks, the Covid-19 – and in particular the Omicron variant – has continued to gain ground in France. In an attempt to curb this fifth wave, a health defense council was organized on Monday, December 27. Prime Minister Jean Castex and Minister of Health Olivier Véran then held a press conference to announce the new measures adopted by the government. But all did not go as planned for the resident of Matignon. During his speech, he indeed made a conjugation error. A very noticed error if we are to believe the reactions on social networks. “I have traveled across France and the intensive care units to tirelessly express my support to the nursing staff”, he said.

In addition to this nasty lack of French, Jean Castex has therefore announced new measures. Among them, the return of gauges for important events, inside and outside. Indoor gatherings will thus be able to accommodate up to 2,000 people and outdoor gatherings up to 5,000 spectators. New rules will also have to be observed in bars, cinemas, sports facilities and transport. From January 3, drinking while standing in bars will no longer be possible and eating and drinking in concert halls, sports halls and transport will be prohibited. All this for a period of at least three weeks.

New time limit for the booster dose

Vaccination also remains at the heart of the government’s strategy. To benefit from its booster dose – after the first two injections or after having contracted the Covid – the period which had previously been four months will be reduced to three. To strengthen this strategy, the vaccination pass could replace the health pass from January 15, if Parliament were to adopt this measure. Teleworking becomes compulsory again three days a week, when the occupied positions allow it, and the mask could also be required again in city centers. A new health defense council should be held on January 5.
