Jean-Luc Reichmann: “With Nathalie, we are very complementary”

This Thursday, February 17 on TF1, Léo Mattéï begins his ninth season with a parade of guests and a renewed brigade. Jean-Luc Reichmann, the creator of the series, tells us more.

The Mattéï family offers a new youth for this season 9, right?

JEAN-LUC REICHMANN: Indeed, since Mattéï solved his problems with his daughter, we wanted him to open up with another family, that of the minors’ brigade, with a whole new team and new faces.

In particular, rapper Stomy Bugsy and Lola Dubini, a young youtube artist…

We who like to surprise, the idea of entrusting the role of a commissioner to Stomy Bugsya guy who sang My own daddy is a gangster, it kinda got us hooked. As for Lolashe had come on promo in The 12 noon shots, and I felt that we could do things together. Hearing her talk about her battles and her cracks over grossophobia, I saw my little sister!

Another new character: Donna, your dog!

At the beginning of the summer, Donna had cancer. The vet said she was doomed but we met people to give her a second chance. She had to be amputated at the beginning of July and, as she seemed to be fighting well, we brought her to Marseille and we did everything to ensure that she had her place in the series.

Leo Mattei is a four-handed creation with Nathalie, your companion. How do you divide the tasks?

Nathalie is at the base of the artistic: the texts, the themes, the cast, etc. And me, I go up and down the chain to communicate our proposals to them. We are very complementary. This year, she’s the one making the last night. A total stripping of all the characters, both physically and morally, since she filmed me naked!

Is Valentine’s Day a special day for you?

Yes and no, I miss the mark quite often… This year, we’ll be with my mum, in Toulouse, because we have a little time slot at that time to come and give her a kiss. But before the summer, we took two breaks to leave together. We will celebrate Valentine’s Day at that time.
