While Jean-Marc Vallée began his career as a director in Canada, he then enjoyed international success. In 2009, it was he who made Victoria: The Young Years of a Queen, then Dallas Buyers Club, four years later. The latter film was notably nominated in numerous categories at the Oscars, including that of best film. He won the Oscar for best editing. He is also the co-creator and director of the hit series Big Little Lies. He received the Emmy Award in 2017 for this series.
