Jennifer Grey, 62, looks back on her life in her autobiography “Out Of The Corner”, the title of which refers to the iconic phrase from “Dirty Dancing”. In 1987, the actress became a world star and teen idol overnight – and celebrated wild nights of partying. Apparently there was no boredom in her love life either.

Jennifer Gray and Matthew Broderick, 60, met and fell in love on the set of the teen comedy “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off” in 1986. They initially kept their relationship secret, but a year later their love became public because of a terrible stroke of fate: the two actors were involved in a terrible car accident in Ireland, two people died. Gray was only slightly injured, Broderick seriously. A little later they separated.

In the talk show by Drew Barrymore, 47, the 62-year-old speaks again about her relationship with Broderick. The two were even engaged at the time. Barrymore is jokingly jealous and emphasizes that the “Dirty Dancing” actress dated several “cute boys” in the 1980s and 1990s. Gray agrees, revealing in a low voice, “I was engaged to Matthew Broderick and Johnny Depp in the same month.”

Engagement to Johnny Depp didn’t last long

While it was already known that Gray and Johnny Depp, 58, were briefly involved, the statement is intriguing. Presenter Drew Barrymore can hardly believe it either and jumps up in disbelief. “It was really a sign that I was in trouble,” adds Jennifer Gray. At that time she thought that Johnny Depp was a kind of gift with which “God [sie] saved from a bad situation”. In addition, the “Pirates of the Caribbean” actor was simply “inhumanly” beautiful.

But the relationship quickly fell apart. Jennifer Gray only stepped down the aisle in 2001 with fellow actor Clark Gregg, 60. Her marriage ended in divorce in 2021 and they have a daughter together: Stella Gregg, 20.
