Mega comeback with album and film

Jennifer Lopez recently released a single, now follows the album and a film of the same name, “This Is Me… Now”.
Jennifer Lopez, 54, made a statement right at the beginning of the year. In January she released the single “Can’t Get Enough”, marking her musical comeback. The album “This Is Me… Now” will follow on February 16th. Her last album, “AKA,” was released in 2014.
She continues to tell her story
The New York City-born artist began her successful career in 1999 with her debut album “On the 6”. This was followed in 2001 by “J.Lo.” and 2002’s “This Is Me… Then.” Her new album now refers to this record, which contained songs like “Jenny from the Block” and “All I Have”. The aim is not only to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the similarly titled sister album, but also to continue telling Lopez’s story. The ninth studio album “chronicles the emotional, spiritual and mental journey” the musician “has undertaken over the past two decades,” the announcement said. “It’s about hope, faith and true love that never ends.” The new work follows the love happy ending with Ben Affleck, 51. And she dedicated the old work to exactly this.
The first taste of the new album has been available since January 10th. “Can’t Get Enough” includes, among other things, Marcia Aitken’s version of the song “I’m Still in Love (With You Boy)” and Lopez sings something like: “I’m still in love with you. […] I can’t get enough of you. It’s the way you love me, touch me. It’s the look you give me.” Elsewhere she explains: “If it feels right, nothing else matters. Is this real life? Too good to be true.” Next to one seductive video The remix version, which was created with rapper Latto, 25, is Lopez in the original music video as a bride, seen dancing with different grooms. In the end, she apparently sits with one of them at a therapy session and has to listen to accusations from him. In doing so, she hints at her own turbulent love life.
Dazzling film with depth
The musician has been married to Affleck for the fourth time since 2022. The couple had been in a relationship over twenty years ago. There were already marriage plans back then, but “Bennifer” broke off their engagement in January 2004. There was a love comeback in 2021. A film that will be released together with the album will provide an even more detailed look at her (love) life. The cross-genre Amazon original “This Is Me… Now: A Love Story” is a music film by director Dave Meyers (51, “The Hitcher”) and is announced as an “audiovisual feast”. No savings were made on the looks, locations and visuals. At the same time, Lopez’s development of self-healing and unconditional faith will be shown alongside the dazzling images. “A captivating portrait that gives hope and, above all, shows that love can also have a place in the real world.”
The trailer gives an impression of the implementation of the film with fantasy and musical elements, which also shows scenes from the wedding music video. The credits also list numerous top stars who are apparently all part of the film, including Derek Hough, Fat Joe, Trevor Noah, Kim Petras, Post Malone, Keke Palmer, Sofia Vergara and Lopez’s partner Ben Affleck. In the film, the musician explains, among other things: “I know what they say about us hopeless romantics, that we are weak, but I am not weak.”
It is questionable whether the album and the film herald a long-term comeback for the singer. Because Lopez recently explained in an interview with “ET”: “The truth is, I don’t even know if I’ll ever make another album after this one. It’s kind of the quintessential Jennifer Lopez J.Lo project and I feel really, really fulfilled.”
Numerous fans will soon feel fulfilled. Lopez announced on Thursday a “This Is Me…Now: The Tour” – with performances in more than 30 US cities. The start is planned for the end of June in Orlando (Florida) and the finale for the end of August in Houston (Texas).
