Jennifer Lopez, 54, and Ben Affleck, 51, celebrated what was probably the biggest love comeback Hollywood has ever seen in the summer of 2021. On July 17, 2022, they finally said yes. Fans had been waiting for this for a long time, after all the acting stars had almost walked down the aisle 20 years ago. But instead they gave up their relationship at that time. The singer is now speaking again about the painful separation from her current husband and revealing surprising details.

“Our relationship collapsed under the weight of pressure,” JLo recently recalled in an interview with Variety, adding, “We lost our self-esteem and had to break up because we didn’t know how we were going to survive. I had to find myself, and he had to find himself.” Now the “Selena” actress has revealed more details about the end of the relationship in an interview with radio presenter Zane Lowe, 50, for Apple Music. So she first straightens out the timeline of the separation for the first time. Because the love affair didn’t happen immediately after the wedding collapsed in September 2003. “We didn’t separate right away, but over the next few months,” she says, explaining that the separation only took place in January 2004.
“We just weren’t ready yet”
Despite the end of love, the “Let’s Get Loud” interpreter always knew that her story with Ben Affleck wasn’t over yet. “I knew in my heart that I wanted to be with him for the rest of my life, I knew that. But it didn’t feel like we were going to make it and that scared me,” she emphasizes. Back then, Hollywood stars weren’t mature enough to solve their problems: “We just weren’t ready yet.”
Instead, Lopez married singer Marc Anthony, 55, in 2004, with whom she has twins Max and Emme, 15. The “Argo” director said “yes” to Jennifer Garner, 51, in 2005 and had three children with her: Violet, 18, Seraphina, 15, and Samuel, 11. “We both found other people, had wonderful children and “Even other relationships after that,” JLo says now. The musician first had to realize how well she could cope on her own. She had reached a point where she had a successful career, great children and was completely relaxed. “Then he showed up again,” she says with a smile.
