Jewelery trend: Influencers love these earrings – and so do we!

When it comes to earrings, the motto for 2020 is: Go big or Go Home. From chunky hoops to XXL pearls, we carried out the most extravagant creations this year. The latest trend: ear clips with an 80s look.

We are sure: Lady Diana would have loved this trend revival. The fashion icon of the 80s and 90s loved big blobs in the form of eye-catching ear clips. Whether with pearls, diamonds or pure: the retro accessory was part of Lady Di's signature look. And today's fashion fans are also taking an example from the princess of hearts and scouring vintage shops for the ultimate jewelery treasures.

The accessory trend explains:

The trend pieces are characterized by their striking appearance: Instead of filigree details, the clunkers score with large, mostly golden surfaces and / or large gemstones – also colored if desired. Usually the costume jewelry is clipped onto our earlobes, because in earlier decades there was only real jewelry as ear studs.

This is how we wear vintage earrings

Grandma's jewelry is the perfect balance between striking and subtle. Due to their sheer size, they immediately catch the eye, but they don't look quite as extravagant as pendant earrings. Depending on our mood, we can reach deep into the jewelry box and combine other chains, rings and co. However, these should be a bit more delicate, otherwise the overall look will be too much.

Our tip: To make sure that our outfit is fashionable again in 2020, we style our statement earrings with trendy pieces such as a logo sweater, overall or cap. We intentionally leave our hair undone – either open or in a casual ponytail. The make-up can also be a little more natural, otherwise we run the risk of being mistaken for Joan Collins from the Denver Clan.

Here are the trend pieces

Let the treasure hunt begin! Because of course: we can get earrings in retro design for little money from the big players. But self-respecting fashionistas prefer the original models. There are heaps of them in vintage shops or on online platforms such as Vestiare Collective or Rebelle. Vintage models by Chanel and Dior are particularly popular among fashionistas. If you are lucky, you can sometimes shoot a real bargain for less than 100 euros. A stroll through the flea market or a visit to grandma's attic can also be worthwhile!

So: what are we waiting for? On to the next shopping tour of a different kind!
