This Wednesday, we will be one year to the day from the opening of the Paris-2024 Olympic Games. And the organizers drew up this Monday the contours of the device intended for those who did not have the chance to obtain tickets to attend the events. Fan zones and various dedicated sites, totally free, will thus be deployed from May 8, 2024.
The forecourt of the Hôtel de Ville in Paris will be completely transformed to accommodate these spectators. 23 sites, in total, will see the light of day in Paris but also in Seine-Saint-Denis, throughout France and even in the overseas departments and territories. More than 200 municipalities have announced their intention to bring the Games to life for their constituents.
A “park of champions” at the Trocadéro
These places will make it possible to attend the events on a giant screen but also to try out some Olympic sports or, quite simply, to have a good time. Also note the creation of a park of champions at the Trocadéro in Paris where all medal-winning athletes can meet to celebrate their success against the Eiffel Tower.
“Every day, Place du Trocadéro, we will celebrate all the medalists from all countries, from all sports, in front of the Eiffel Tower, in an iconic site. It is a place that we have already used on several occasions, and in particular to celebrate the return of French athletes after the Tokyo Games. There will indeed be this Champions Park which promises to be quite exceptional”, rejoices Tony Estanguet, the president of Paris-2024.
The France Club at La Villette
The traditional Club France will take place, meanwhile, at La Villette in Paris. The supporters of the Blues will be able to meet there the sportsmen, the medal-winning athletes, but also to have fun in a festive place. “The idea is to welcome 700,000 people over the duration of the Olympic and Paralympic Games, to be able to celebrate all the athletes. And for that, we needed an iconic, transgenerational place that could welcome all Ile-de-France residents to celebrate the Games and the France team, “says Marie-Amélie Le Fur, president of the French Paralympic and Sports Committee.
This Club France will be open from 10 a.m. to 2 a.m. and will adjoin those of Brazil and Canada who have also chosen La Villette. The Americans will meet at the Palais Brongniart.
