Jonathan Rhys Meyers and John Malkovich will soon appear together in "The Survivalist". The content of the film could hardly be more topical.

Jonathan Rhys Meyers (43, "The Tudors") last hit the (negative) headlines when he was arrested in November for drunk driving. Now the Irish actor could make a name for himself again with a new film project. In the pandemic thriller "The Survivalist" his opponent is none other than "Con Air" villain John Malkovich (67).

Chase after the virus apocalypse

The plot of the film by director Jon Keeyes (51, "American Nightmare") could hardly be more topical, even if it seems more dramatic than reality. According to The Hollywood Reporter, "The Survivalist" is set a year and a half after a virus pandemic brought down civilization, in which ex-FBI agent Ben (Jonathan Rhys Meyers) protects a young woman who is immune to the dangerous pathogen A fact that makes her the target of a dangerous gang around the psychopath Aaron (John Malkovich).

In addition to filmmaker Keeyes himself, Jordan Yale Levine (35, "King Cobra") and Jordan Beckerman also acted as producers of the film, which has already been shot. The two described their work "Deadline" as an "intoxicating, current and action-packed feature film with brilliant depictions" of the "screen legends" Rhys Meyers and Malkovich. The script was written by author Matthew Rogers.

When and where "The Survivalist" will start – in the cinema or directly on various streaming services – is not yet known.
