Incarcerated since 2018 for the murder of his wife, Alexia Fouillot Daval, Jonathann Daval can count on the support of his mother, Martine Henry. In her book Me, mom of Jonathann, published this November 17, 2022 by Michalon editions, she confides.
“Prison is our new daily family life. It has taken an important place in our life.” It is with these words that she evokes her relationship with her son. By confessing to the murder of his wife on January 30, 2018, Jonathann Daval has become one of the most famous criminals in France, a symbol of feminicides, moreover. However, for Martine Henry, there was never any question of turning her back on her. “What kind of mother would I be if I abandoned my son at such a time? she wonders in her book. Whatever he’s done he needs my support.” Thus, for nearly five years, Martine Henry has been visiting her son very regularly. at the central house of Ensisheimin the Bas-Rhin. “Every other weekend, two hours each time“, she specifies. With him, the 66-year-old childminder speaks “everything and nothing“. She takes care of her son as she can.
“The only thing I brought in, (…) it’s a Vichy pastille”
On one occasion, Martine Henry admits to having flouted the rules to please her son. “The only thing I brought in – we’re not allowed, but I’m saying it anyway, out of honesty – it’s a Vichy pastille”, she admits. “Jonathann loves it and, of course, there are none in prison! I hope it won’t cause him any trouble for me to say it, but it was punctual. He was really happy. In these moments, he has his child’s face“, she is moved.
Sentenced to 25 years of criminal imprisonment without a security period, Jonathann Daval should remain incarcerated at least until 2030.
