Jörg Kachelmann: Why he now wants to cut back on the "riverboat"

Kim Fisher has to look for a new moderation partner: Jörg Kachelmann wants to cut back on the joint talk show "Riverboat".

From the beginning of next year, Jörg Kachelmann (62) will only present the MDR talk show "Riverboat" every 14 days. The station announced on Wednesday. Since January 2019, he and Kim Fisher (51) have been running the show every Friday. It has not yet been decided who in the future, alternating with Kachelmann at the side of Fisher, will check out prominent guests.

He must do a "household chores"

"The child started school, my wife is doing her doctorate, my mother is 91 and all of this takes place in Switzerland or the immediate vicinity – the weekly trip to Leipzig, which takes at least three days, is no longer affordable", Kachelmann explains his decision himself. In 2021 he could realistically only be there every second time "to do my household chores, especially since the weather company is still there."

He was infinitely grateful that he was allowed to continue to moderate "Riverboat" in this "fantastic team". "Miraculously, Kim remains a constant on all programs." In the next edition on November 6th (10 p.m., MDR) the moderator duo welcomes actress Sophia Thomalla, star violinist David Garrett, "Silbermond" front woman Stefanie Kloß, actress ChrisTine Urspruch, bestselling author Wladimir Kaminer, MDR news anchor Robert Burdy, firefighter Marie Schumann and apple grower Hans-Jürgen Mortag.
