José Evrard, Debout la France deputy for Pas-de-Calais, died of Covid-19 at 76 years old

Guillaume Kaznowski, regional councilor Les Patriotes des Hauts-de-France, announced this Friday evening the death of MP Debout France José Evrard. “I have the immense sadness to announce to you this evening the disappearance of the deputy of Pas-de-Calais José Évrard following the Covid-19. I am thinking this evening of his wife, his son, his grandchildren”, he wrote in a message posted directly to the account of the deceased, 76 years old.

The only son of Rémi Evrard confirmed this disappearance to AFP, specifying that his father, hospitalized in Arras, was “vaccinated”.

On this same social network, the President of the National Assembly, Richard Ferrand, sent “his thoughts moved and united in the sorrow” to his relatives. Nicolas Dupont-Aignan for his part welcomed “a courageous, upright, kind man”. “Son of a miner who became a deputy for Pas-de-Calais, he embodied this land in the mining basin”, he wrote. “I will miss him terribly”, adds the 2022 presidential candidate.

Member of the French Communist Party until 2001, he joined the ranks of the National Front in 2013. It was under this label that he was elected deputy in 2017, before leaving the party to join Les Patriotes, a party founded by Florian Philippot. He had finally rallied to Nicolas Dupont-Aignan and his party, Debout la France.

Since the start of the pandemic, he had positioned himself against government policy vis-à-vis the pandemic, in particular on the subject of vaccination. He had among other things participated, last July, in the anti-sanitary pass rally organized at the Trocadéro at the call of Florian Philippot.
