Journalism since 1923 – “Time Magazine”: An American classic turns 100 – News
It is practically the mother of all news magazines – the American «Time Magazine».
Now the traditional newspaper is 100 years old. The first edition appeared in 1923.
The magazine is published every two weeks and has a circulation of several million copies.
Current events – condensed and framed in red: This is “Time Magazine”. The typical mix of short texts on politics, art and society has long since given it cult status.
Founders Briton Hadden and Henry Luce wanted to provide a synthesis of news events in a single magazine. The first edition appeared in 1923, from 1927 the reading appeared with the now iconic red border around the front. The goal? Stand out. With stories that moved everyone and big pictures that everyone understood.
