Juliette Binoche on the verge of tears as she recounts her experience as a homeless person

On January 6, Juliette Binoche was invited to the C à Vous set to promote her latest film, Ouistreham. The actress took the opportunity to talk about a previous role that deeply marked her.

Juliette Binoche is back in the cinema with the film Ouistreham, signed Emmanuel Carrère. She plays the role of Marianne Winckler, a writer at the turn of her fifties who infiltrates a group of housekeepers in Caen to study the precariousness of the profession. In C to You this Thursday, the actress spoke of another role in her career in which she was faced with the galley. It was in 1991, just before she started filming Les Amants du pont neuf.. For the purposes of the film, Juliette Binoche had lived a few days in the street before recounting her experience in an archival video unearthed by Pierre Lescure and broadcast on the France 5 program. “When we are in the bottom of the hole, we do not see the solutions. It’s a vicious circle: no housing, no work … It’s a spinning wheel that becomes nightmarish“, explained at the time Juliette Binoche, then 27 years old.

Juliette Binoche: this gesture of a stranger who touched her a lot

Visibly moved by seeing these images, the actress returned to this memorable experience in C à Vous, and in particular to an anecdote that touched her. “I had been to Nanterre, where the tramps were picked up for treatment. […] So I slept there, which was already an ordeal, but very interesting … And when we came back to Paris, we took a bus that let us go to take the metro. And there, a man in his forties said to me: ‘I have a 500-franc note, if you want, we can share … “, remembered the actress, won by emotion.
