Jurassic World: Dominion: The dinosaur blockbuster is in the box after 40,000 corona tests

The shooting of the dinosaur blockbuster "Jurassic World: Dominion" is finally over. Meanwhile, 40,000 corona tests were done.

It's been a long and rocky road, but the shooting of the dinosaur blockbuster "Jurassic World: Dominion" has officially ended. As the US industry journal "Deadline" reports, the last scenes were shot over the weekend in Pinewood Studios west of London.

Pre-production started 18 months ago. Again and again this year, due to the corona pandemic, forced breaks had to be taken. Most recently, at the beginning of October, the cameras were still for two weeks because several employees had tested positive for the corona virus.

Director Colin Trevorrow praises everyone involved

A total of 40,000 corona tests were necessary during production. The cast and crew had to isolate themselves for months. In addition, several million dollars in additional costs were incurred for the implementation of the hygiene concepts.

Director Colin Trevorrow (44, "Jurassic World") spoke to "Deadline" of a "remarkable" journey that was associated with many emotions. "The cast and crew were incredibly resilient. All the producers worked around the clock to make the most of it. It was inspiring," said the 44-year-old.

The theatrical release for "Jurassic World: Dominion" was announced for June 2021. Due to the circumstances, the film will not open until June 2022. Chris Pratt (41) and Bryce Dallas Howard (39) will again star in the lead roles. In addition, the "Jurassic Park" primates Jeff Goldblum (68) and Sam Neill (73) are there.
