Padme celebrates and Luke meets the US President
Natalie Portman and Mark Hamill celebrated Star Wars Day in very different ways.

May 4th is “Star Wars” day. Natalie Portman celebrates him with a throwback photo – and Mark Hamill with the mighty Joe-B-Wan Kenobi.
“May the Force be with you,” say the Jedi Knights in the galaxy far, far away.Star Wars”. And because in English the greeting formula (“May the force be with you”) and the date “May, the Fourth” sound extremely similar, May 4th became the worldwide “Star Wars” day. Actress Natalie Portman (42) used the festive occasion to remember her role in the prequel trilogy and honor a milestone anniversary – and Mark Hamill (72) met the most powerful man in the world.
To a picturewhich features her in her magnificent role as Princess Padmé Amidala, Portman wrote: “It’s been 25 years since The Phantom Menace premiered… and now the film is back in theaters for a limited time! I’m still “in awe of all the people who brought these films to life – and the storytelling of George Lucas.”
In the comments section, countless “Star Wars” fans celebrate with Portman, including some prominent hobby Jedis like Reese Witherspoon (48). The Oscar winner took on the role of the princess and later mother of Princess Leia and Luke Skywalker in all three parts of the prequel trilogy. The prequel to the original trilogy started in cinemas in 1999 with “Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace”. This was followed by “Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones” in 2002 and “Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith” in 2005.
And what does Luke Skywalker do on “Star Wars” day?
Luke Skywalker actor Mark Hamill, who is known for posting diligently on social media, will also live up to his reputation on “Star Wars” day – and how: On Friday (May 3rd) he was a guest at US President Joe Biden (81) in the White House. And who knows power better than the most powerful man in the world?
He published a photo on X from the meeting where the two smile and put their arms around each other’s shoulders. Hamill wrote: “May May 4th be the day a would-be protector of the galaxy meets a true protector of democracy.” He suggested a new nickname for the president, which Biden immediately took to his heart: “Joe-B-Wan Kenobi.”
New “Star Wars” series coming in exactly a month
Exactly one month late, from June 4th, 2024, Star Wars fans can examine the next series from the “Star Wars” universe. Then the series “The Acolyte” starts on the streaming service Disney+, which is set around seven decades before “Episode I” and “takes viewers into a galaxy full of dark secrets and emerging forces of the dark side in the last days of the High Republic.”
