Justin Chambers: What's Up After "Grey's Anatomy"?

Actor Justin Chambers has left Grey's Anatomy at his own request. What plans does the 50-year-old have after retiring from the series?

Justin Chambers (50) know series fans as Dr. Alex Karev from the "Grey's Anatomy" series of doctors. His series exit in the middle of season 16 came as a complete surprise to loyal viewers at the beginning of the year – his last episode had already flickered on the US screens. Chambers came back only for the voiceover of his farewell sequence. A worthy farewell looks different. The actor is celebrating his 50th birthday today, July 11th. This milestone apparently played a role in his series out. What is in store for him after the series of doctors?

A role that defines his career

Justin Chambers has been part of the cast of "Grey's Anatomy" since the first episode of season one. He was like Ellen Pompeo (50) alias Dr. Meredith Gray, Chandra Wilson (50) aka Dr. Miranda Bailey and James Pickens Jr. (65) aka Dr. Richard Webber a veteran from the very beginning. His figure Dr. Alex Karev grew from chauvinistic macho to fan favorite with a big heart for children. In the end, he even headed the pediatrics department and temporarily became the chief doctor. In addition, he had found his personal happiness and formed the popular friendship duo with Dr. Meredith Gray. All of that is now history.

But "Grey's Anatomy" had a significant impact on Justin Chambers' career. Since taking on the role in the series of doctors, Chambers has embodied almost no other character. Dr. Alex Karev has defined his professional life for 15 years. The actor now had enough of that – also with a view to his 50th birthday – as he explained.

In his opinion, there would be "no good time" for a farewell of this size, Chambers said in an official statement earlier this year. For some time now, however, he has hoped to be able to bring more variety into his roles and his career path. "Now that I am 50 years old and blessed with my remarkable, supportive wife and five wonderful children, now is the time," said the actor.

So far, nothing is known about specific projects after its series production. Chambers had well-known roles before his time as a TV doctor in "Wedding Planner – in love, engaged, planned" (2001). In it, he proposed to Jennifer Lopez (50). In "The Musketeer – The Young D'Artagnan" (2001) he played D'Artagnan. Catherine Deneuve (76) and Mena Suvari (41) were also seen in the film. What genre is he in?

Private happiness for over 25 years

Justin Chambers will definitely get reinsurance at home. The actor has been married to his wife Keisha since 1993. According to US media reports, they met when he was still a model and she worked for a modeling agency. The couple have five children together: Isabella (born 1994), the twins Maya and Kaila (born 1997), Eva (born 1999) and Jackson (born 2002). His family is sure to give him a nice 50th birthday.
