In the Arthurian myth, Lancelot, also nicknamed “Lancelot du Lac”, he was raised by the Lady of the Lake in the forest of Brocéliande. Within Kaamelott, he is Arthur Pendragon’s Minister of War. He is also in love with Queen Guinevere, whom he seduces during the series and abducts to take her to the forest.
Lancelot was not always hostile to Arthur’s politics and the quest for the Grail, but as time passed he found that his king surrounded himself with incompetents, many of whom seemed unaware of the prestige of chivalry and were, according to him, useless in the quest for the Grail. Above all, he begins to have resentment towards his sovereign, visibly incapable of being respected.
The link is definitely broken when Lancelot secedes and goes to the forest by kidnapping Queen Guinevere. Subsequently, he meets a man named Meleagant, who makes him the armed arm of the gods in their revenge against Arthur. Their confrontation ends up taking place on the big screen in Kaamelot – First part.
While he wishes to pass for an unattached knight-errant, Lancelot is actually the cousin of Bohort and the son of King Ban. This state of affairs will play an important role in the continuation of Arthur’s adventures in the cinema since the First part ends precisely with a ghostly appearance around the ruins of the castle of Ban.
