Created by Alexandre Astier in 2005, the Kaamelott series recounts the misadventures of King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table, who chain missions and desperately seek to get their hands on the Grail. Role-playing references

In episode 41 of season 1, Léodagan evokes the skaven, ratmen straight out of the fantasy role-playing game Warhammer. This is not the only reference to the game, since the character of Elie Semoun, the Witch Hunter, bears the title of a class available in the game. Finally, the quests of the knights in basements and underground obviously suggest at Dungeons & Dragons.

Heat

In the episode The Face-to-face 2nd part (S04E81), the interview between Lancelot and Arthur at the tavern is filmed like the famous meeting between the characters of Robert De Niro and Al Pacino in Heat by Michael Mann. The feature film is one of the favorites ofAlexandre Astierwho also named the first episode of the series… Heat.

The Stargate

Whether it’s a reference to Roland Emmerich’s film or to the series carried by Amanda Tapping, Christopher Judge and Richard Dean Anderson, Kaamelott twice places a magic portal (S02E68 and S03E43), which even leads Perceval to venture there and come back armed… with a Star Wars lightsaber!
