It’s not just election time here, because in this volume 7 of Kaguya-sama: Love is War, it will also be discussed. As we said about the previous volume, the BDE has recently been dissolved. Consequently, Kaguya and Shirogane have less opportunity to see each other and share time together. But this volume will not be long in approaching the election of the new president.
Don’t forget to look at the hard cover of your manga, Asa Akasaka has once again exploited this to include some nice optical illusions. It’s always fun to discover the author’s jokes that replace, in themselves, the quotes from the artists often present, in addition to being generally humorous. The president’s last bang
A volume that starts as usual, presenting us with sketches to set the context, in particular vis-à-vis Kaguya and Shirogane who must here take advantage of a drawing lesson to spend time together and try to crack the other. Always with this concern to confront the different visions and perceptions of love that our two heroes may have.
Quickly, the chapters will put forward the period of elections of the new president of the BDE, in order to determine whether or not Shirogane will re-election once more. An interesting and important sequence in this volume of Kaguya-sama: Love is War. If this lacks a bit of a surprise, it will be an opportunity to introduce a brand new character, as well as an unprecedented confrontation situation for the manga.
Some additional information also appears, helping to consolidate the lore and deepen the characters, both main and secondary. And this despite this sketch structure that does not leave the series. Evidenced by Chika Fujiwara whose past is revealed to us a little more, which helps to better understand the personality of the latter. A volume that undoubtedly has its share of surprises in store.
New start
Faithful to the series but also a little different, although it is difficult to explain, this volume 7 of Kaguya-sama: Love is War can, in a way that only engages us, be seen as a pseudo rereading of the first introductory chapters of the manga. A feeling that is felt when reading, vis-à-vis the situations, the rhythm or even the behavior of the characters which refer to the beginning of the story. The evolution of the characters is felt for several chapters already, but it is perhaps more easily perceptible here.
On closer inspection, changes in character behavior and psychology are evident. Especially in Kaguya and Shirogane who keep losing their confidence, despite a few new tricks to match their intellect. They seem more formidable and paradoxically more fragile too. It is likely that the parallel that we draw with the first chapters has something to do with it.
Finally, let’s highlight the author’s amusing little spades distilled here and there over the chapters, especially on the elections. Something to kindly point out some recurring concerns of Japanese society. Because, as a reminder, the universe of Kaguya-sama: Love is War takes place in a school attended mainly by students from wealthy and powerful families.
Should we fall for volume 7 of Kaguya-sama: Love is War?
Why stop now while everything is going so well ? The series continues to grow over the chapters and volumes, while managing intelligently and subtly to renew itself in these comic situations. The humor is still perfectly established and both content and form work very well. If we could often have slight doubts about the Seinen classification of Asa Akasaka’s manga, in this volume 7 we come back very slightly to dialogues, see situations that could easily slip into something more adult and irreverent.

For the time being Kaguya-sama: Love is War still barely flirts with the line, but this volume seems to tell us that in the future, more comical situations could arise.
