The TV presenter Kai Pflaume (56) has successfully completed a private milestone. Yesterday, Sunday, he ran the first marathon of his life in New York City and also let his fans take part via Instagram. He reported on his experiences in a total of two posts with several pictures and videos of the ordeal. “What an incredible, special, sometimes hard, but above all great experience it was today,” writes Plum in his first post.

He had prepared for this day with his coach for seven months in order to “achieve a great time” of 3:33 hours in the end. In the second post, which, among other things, shows Pflaume crossing the finish line, the TV star writes: “When this moment suddenly arrives that you’ve been working towards for so long, it’s just amazing.” The finish was “really emotional”.

During training in the last few months, he tried so often to imagine what it would be like if he crossed the finish line in New York. Now it has happened. Once again he thanked his coach Philipp Seipp and also ex-professional marathon runner Philipp Pflieger (36), who accompanied Pflaume through yesterday’s race. Pflaume also asked his fans the question: “Have you ever run a marathon and can you still remember the finish line of your first marathon?”

Also in a short interview with the “Bild” newspaper Plum reports about the run. The training was an incredibly beautiful but also hard experience: “At the finish I knew why the route in New York is also called ‘The Wall’.” There is hardly a flat section of the route; it feels like it is constantly going uphill or downhill.

The atmosphere along the route was sensational: “It’s unbelievable how many people cheer on the runners on the side of the road – regardless of whether they’re professionals or amateurs.” There’s only one thing he’s a little annoyed about: If he had crossed the finish line ten seconds earlier, he would have finished exactly in 3 hours, 33 minutes and 33 seconds.

As he already announced on Instagram, he wanted to start the “bulking phase” that evening and also hopes to soon have five kilos more on his ribs again. In the “Bild” interview he specified his plan. He’s looking forward to “the Triple B”: “Burgers, beer and ‘bizza’. In the evening he even posted a picture of himself with a large piece of pizza in one of his Instagram stories.
