The deputy of Yvelines, Karl Olive, was elected at the head of the Variétés Club de France. This team, made up of former professional footballers and managed by Jacques Vendroux, journalist for Europe 1, meets at regular intervals to support various charities.

The Variétés Club de France has a new president. Last week, Karl Olive, former mayor of Poissy and deputy of Yvelines, was elected at the head of this structure which brings together several public figures and former glories of the world of football. He succeeds Serge Piovan as the sixth president in the history of this club, which intends to support various charities through friendly matches played around the world.

“Very happy to be elected president of the Variétés Club de France during the General Assembly. The Variétés Club de France embodies what sport does best and I measure the commitment that this represents. Special thoughts for Serge Piovan and Thierry Roland, my illustrious predecessors”, reacted the interested party on Twitter.

Jacques Vendroux, journalist for Europe 1 and who holds the position of general manager of the club, also said he was “very happy” with this appointment.

12,000 euros collected on October 25

On October 25, the Variétés Club de France collected 12,000 euros for the Yellow Pieces and the Haur Eri association during a friendly match in Bayonne. Last year, the President of the Republic, Emmanuel Macron, had himself participated in a meeting against a team of caregivers from the intercommunal hospital center of Poissy-Saint-Germain-en-Laye.

Among the recurring members of the team, we find in particular Didier Deschamps, the current coach of the France team or even Bixente Lizarazu, world champion in 1998 and consultant for TF1. Zinédine Zidane, Fabien Barthez and even Prince Albert II of Monaco have also worn the VCF jersey.
