Kate and William, Charles III and Camilla… The fabulous annual salary of their private secretaries

Questioned by Gala on Friday November 25, 2022, the author of the book Brokers: The Hidden Power Behind the Crown, Valentine Low, confided in the annual salary received by the private secretaries of the British royal family.

Officially proclaimed King of England following the death of the Queen Elizabeth II Thursday, September 8, 2022, at the age of 96, Charles III not only inherited the throne and the crown of the United Kingdom, but also all the obligations that go with it. Raised to the rank of Queen Consort when her husband finally became the sovereign of Great Britain, Camille Parker Bowles also has new duties linked to her status now. To help the royal couple manage their busy schedule, Charles III and his wife are accompanied by one or more private secretaries. This is also the case for Prince William and Kate Middleton, who inherited the titles of Prince and Princess of Wales following the death of Queen Elizabeth II.

The private secretaries of the British royal family are considered to be true right-hand men for each member of Clan Windsor. In the shadows, they mainly deal diaries, press relations, even more personal problems of the British royal family. Claiming great devotion, but also an excellent understanding of the issues related to the social status of the British crown, this work is very generously remunerated. In any case, this is what Valentine Low revealed on Friday November 25, 2022 in the columns of Gala. Author of the book titled Brokers: The Hidden Power Behind the Crown, the latter revealed the amount of salary received by the private secretaries of the British royal family. “I’m not sure these advisers are trained. I know that with Elizabeth II, new employees had to spend a large part of their time with the Queen’s closest and most senior private secretary.“, he first said.

British royal family: more than 100,000 euros per year for private secretaries occupying the highest positions

In recent years, however, the royal family has introduced a manual of operations and conduct for those who work at the palace. Those who exercise the highest functions can earn more than 100,000 euros per year“, added Valentine Low, while specifying that the private secretaries of the British royal family can earn even more money in the private sector. The author then delivered some revelations concerning the essential conditions to be fulfilled to be a good secretary in the service of the crown of the United Kingdom.”These are people who have, on the one hand, a professional role, and on the other hand, a very personal relationship. The employee for this position must have a vision and philosophy of life similar to the member of the royal family for whom he works. For example, a few years ago, there was one of Charles’ private secretaries who was not necessarily in communion with his charities, helping young people from difficult neighborhoods in particular. He therefore did not hold his post for long. It is imperative to share the same values“, explained Valentine Low on this subject.
