In the next few days, the United States will be the place to be. Like Emmanuel and Brigitte Macron, who arrive this Tuesday, November 29 in Washington, Kate Middleton and Prince William are preparing to cross the Atlantic for a state visit. The Prince and Princess of Wales will travel to America for the first time since 2014 from this Wednesday, November 30. The couple will touch down in Boston two days before the second annual Earthshot Awards, an initiative launched by Prince William in 2019 to find solutions to environmental issues. “Their Royal Highnesses are both delighted with their first international trip since assuming their roles as Prince and Princess of Wales, a Kensington Palace spokesperson told ABC News. This Wednesday, November 30, the Prince and Princess of Wales will be welcomed to Boston during a ceremony at City Hall in the presence of Caroline Kennedy, the daughter of John F. Kennedy and the city’s mayor, Michelle Wu. In honor of the couple and the Eathshot Environmental Prize, Boston landmarks, including City Hall, will be lit green. The royal couple will begin their second day in the United States, this Thursday, December 1, with a visit to Greentown Labs, a climate tech start-up incubator, in Somerville, Massachusetts. They will then travel a few miles to Chelsea, where they will visit Roca, a non-profit organization that focuses on helping high-risk young people between the ages of 16 and 24.

On site, Prince William and Kate Middleton will meet with leaders of the organization and participants in the programs for young mothers and young men. The next day, Friday December 2, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will attend separate events. The Princess of Wales will meet researchers from Harvard University’s Center on the Developing Child while her husband plans to visit the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum with Caroline Kennedy.
