She became known to a wide audience as Lucy in the US cult sitcom “Big Bang Theory”. Now actress Kate Micucci is making her lung cancer public in a TikTok video.
US series star Kate Micucci, 43, who, among other things, played Rajesh’s girlfriend Lucy in the hit sitcom “The Big Bang Theory”, is suffering from lung cancer. In a very private video that the actress published on the video platform TikTok on Saturday, December 9, 2023, she shows herself in a hospital gown and reveals: “I’m in the hospital. That’s because I had lung cancer surgery yesterday.”

It is a difficult diagnosis that Kate Micucci is currently having to deal with. And yet she feels like joking. She begins her TikTok video with the words: “Hey guys, this isn’t a TikTok, it’s a ‘Sick Tok’ (“sick” means “sick”).”
Fortunately, the cancer was “detected very early.” The New Jersey-born actress continued: “It’s really strange because I’ve never smoked a cigarette in my life, so it was a surprise.”
The “Big Bang Theory” star is combative
Another video excerpt shows the “Big Bang Theory” star walking through the hospital hallway with an infusion. Micucci is already back on his feet and is fighting. She says, “I guess things like that happen. And the best news is that they caught it early.” Finally she assures: “They got it out, I’m fine.”
Many people in this country know Kate Micucci as Rajesh’s friend Lucy from “The Big Bang Theory”, which she portrayed in eight episodes in 2013 and 2017. Micucci also starred in the sitcoms “How I Met Your Mother”, “Malcolm in the Middle” and “Scrubs” and had major roles in the US comedy series “Raising Hope” and the animated series “Steven Universe”.
