Charles III and Camilla were crowned this Saturday, May 6, 2023 in front of cameras around the world. It would have been unthinkable for the Crown not to pay tribute to the fallen of the royal family. Thus, Camilla chose to pay tribute to Queen Elizabeth II with earrings that belonged to her. Kate Middleton decided to pay tribute to her late mother-in-law, Lady Diana. The Princess of Wales wished to display here jewels that belonged to the one who, before her, bore this honorary title. THE pearl and diamond earrings she wore did indeed belong to Diana. The latter had worn them many times over the years, notably at her wedding, but also during the “revenge dress” evening in 1994 after her separation from Prince Charles, one of her unforgettable looks. But Kate Middleton had also chosen to pay tribute to Elizabeth II, her husband’s grandmother, who died last September. She wore around her neck the George VI Festoon, a necklace that belonged to the queen Elizabeth II. Comprised of more than 100 diamonds, it was a favorite of the Queen and she often wore it when she didn’t have a tiara, the Queen preferring not to “heaviness her outfit.” Kate Middleton has also chosen to wear a jewel on her head, a diamond tiara of braided flowers, matching that of her daughter Charlotte. Her choice of tiara has been debated for a long time and is likely to cause controversy.
