She just has no luck in love: Katie Holmes has been single again since May. Which man is behind it …

Whenever things get serious, he’s there for you – with a sophisticated contract that is supposed to protect you. The document that Martin Holmes, 76, has so far drawn up for every partner of his daughter Katie, 42, has never helped – on the contrary. Their relationships fail, and it is always the actress herself who draws the line.

But why does it not work out with her with the men? That has to do with daddy too. Katie Holmes spent her childhood and youth in the small town of Toledo in the US state of Ohio. There she attended a strictly Catholic girls’ school and was the epitome of the good daughter. As the baby girl – she still has three sisters and a brother – she was pampered as long as she followed the rules. Katie got top marks; her parents wanted her to be a doctor. At the renowned Columbia University she got a place to study medicine, gave up everything for a Hollywood career, became a star at the age of 20 with the series “Dawson’s Creek” in 1998.

A nightmare for their overprotective parents, especially for Papa Martin, whose colleagues say of him: “It’s either up his nose or nowhere.” For Katie, however, the step was liberating. In order to continue influencing Katie’s life, the lawyer specializing in marriage law drafted contracts that governed dealings with his daughter. First the marriage contract with Tom Cruise, 58, then the divorce agreements. Later confidentiality contracts for Jamie Foxx, 53, and Emilio Vitolo, 33. It never helped Katie – love broke every time, her heart too. With Cruise it was Scientology, she separated from Foxx and Vitolo because of their inability to bond. Katie instinctively seeks the alternative to her dad: a man who enjoys life and lets the reins loose. Until she realizes that she needs security and that a bon vivant scares her. Then papa is there.
