AfD fails in the election to the Bundestag vice

The new Bundestag will also initially remain without a vice-president from the AfD. Michael Kaufmann fails this time in the election of Bärbel Bas’ deputy. Five MPs, on the other hand, come to the Presidium – including one man.

The Thuringian AfD member Michael Kaufmann failed in the election for Bundestag Vice President. In the first ballot in Berlin, he only achieved 118 votes in favor and thus clearly missed the required majority of 369 votes.

Representatives of the new Bundestag President Bärbel Bas were elected: Aydan Özoğuz from the SPD, Yvonne Magwas from the CDU, Claudia Roth from the Greens, Wolfgang Kubicki from the FDP and Petra Pau from the Left.

In the previous election period, the AfD failed with several candidates in the election for a Bundestag vice-president. None of the party’s candidates was able to achieve the required majority in the ballots.
