The series "This Sceptred Isle" will cover the first wave of the coronavirus pandemic in the UK – with Kenneth Branagh as Boris Johnson.
Most recently, actor Kenneth Branagh (60) was seen in the cinema as the Russian villain in Christopher Nolan's (50) "Tenet". For the planned Sky series "This Sceptred Isle", however, the British character mime should play a real figure – Britain's incumbent Prime Minister Boris Johnson. This was reported by the US industry website "Variety".
Michael Winterbottom's series is said to revolve around the time of the first wave of the corona pandemic, which hit the United States, Great Britain in particular and in which Johnson infected himself with the virus in a life-threatening manner. "Our series interweaves countless stories," says Winterbottom. "From Johnson at Number 10 to the frontline workers across the country." "This Sceptred Isle" is planned for autumn 2022, according to the report.
