Left on the G2 Esports bench for a little over a year now, French AWPer Kenny “kennyS” Schrub is currently evaluating his possibilities for the future of his career. His last official match dates back to December 2021, for the IEM XVI Winter, but his retirement actually dates from the very beginning of 2021 during the BLAST Premier. In March, G2 formalized its bench.
One of the scene’s veterans was hoping to get back into shape and competition for 2022, but that’s obviously still not the case. After participating in a few showmatches and declaring not be very motivated to return to a professional level, the player is more oriented on the stream. On the occasion of a podcast at 1hp, he reiterated that he no longer had the mental toughness to handle a declining career.
We’re not going to lie to each other, in the end, I love the stage, I love the audience, I love making them scream, it’s cool. But that’s 5% of working life. The rest, at present, I am no longer able to do and I don’t want to do it.
After announcing a competitive break on CS:GO after 12 years of practice, he also gave some leads on his future, and in particular on the side of Valorant, a lead he seemed to have dismissed.
I have not announced my return. It may be in two years, a year, 6 months, I don’t know. There I seek to be happy and that is fine. […] But I never close doors. We don’t know what the future will hold. Maybe I’ll go to Valorant, maybe CS:GOor maybe I’ll just be a crazy content creator or do some different stuff.
Finally, Kenny also recalls that his potential arrival on another game, like Valorant, may not mean a return to the professional world. The French player explains that he wants allow yourself to stream other games without being part of the scene. What will the future hold for him? For him, “being happy is the priority.
