Actor comes to the screen in a devilish role

Kevin Spacey returns to the cinema in a devilish role. In the psychological thriller “The Contract” he is supposed to embody the character “The Devil”.
Kevin Spacey (64), who has fallen into disrepute due to allegations of abuse, is slowly returning to the big screen. The actor is now set to play a role called “The Devil” in the psychological thriller “The Contract” by Massimo Paolucci. This is reported by the industry magazine “Variety”. Accordingly, Spacey has been in Rome since December 2023, where filming for the film was recently completed.
Spacey’s character is based on roles played by Robert De Niro and Al Pacino
According to the report, the script of “The Contract” is similar to the psychological thrillers “Angel Heart” with Robert De Niro (80) and “The Devil’s Order” with Al Pacino (83). Spacey embodies the character “The Devil”, which is reminiscent of the aforementioned roles of the two iconic stars: Al Pacino played Satan, who takes the form of a human lawyer, in “The Devil’s Order” and Robert De Niro in “Angel Heart” a satanic businessman who hires a shady detective to descend into hell.
The film’s producers “recruited” Spacey to play the role for eight months. In addition to the former “House of Cards” star, Eric Roberts (67) and Vincent Spano (61) will be seen in “The Contract”.
Cinema comeback after acquittal in July 2023
In 2017, allegations of abuse against Kevin Spacey were made for the first time. He was accused of inappropriately touching or forcing sexual intercourse with four men in Great Britain between 2001 and 2013, including underage fellow actors. His career was then put on ice for the time being. The actor pleaded not guilty to all charges and denied the allegations. In October 2022, Spacey was found not guilty by a New York jury. On his 64th birthday, he was finally acquitted on all counts in London at the end of July 2023.
His comeback to the cinema will take place on March 22, 2024. Spacey will then appear on the screen in the indie thriller “Peter Five Eight” – his first major role since the acquittal. It is not yet known when “The Contract” will be released in cinemas.
