Kim sacked from DRX: the coach would have had major problems with the structure

This January 29, Kim “Kim” Jeong-soo, DRX’s coach, had been temporarily removed from his team’s roster and replaced by Shin “Shine” Dong-wook. He had been recruited by the structure last decemberafter having coached many other teams, like DWG KIA, or even T1 and had even won League of Legends Worlds 2018 alongside Invictus Gaming. Kim had been removed from the list following a direct request from DRX. On February 4, however, DRX announced his dismissal.

If DRX decided to fire Kim, it is according to them to achieve “effective restructuring and the sustainable future of DRX”. Kim allegedly violated some of its contractual obligations therefore pushing the structure to push him towards the door. For legal reasons, however, DRX entrusts unable to give the exact reason for his dismissal. The structure still declares thata new coach should soon arrive to take the place left vacant by Kim.

In a special online press conference, DRX General Manager Choi “McCarter” Byeong-hoon sheds some light on the case. He states that despite the small disagreements Kim had with Choi Sang-in, the CEO of DRX, but that it did not affect this decision. Although he cannot go into the legal issues in detail, however, he admits that they could concern social law or the LCK regulations. Furthermore, we also learn that the players were aware of this decision and that the structure had also spoken to Deft about this subject. Finally, he also confides that the event that led them to break a contract in the middle of the season was important all the same, otherwise they would not have been able to take such steps.

For now, we don’t know more about it, however new revelations should be made in the days to come, so we must remain attentive.
