King Carl Gustaf hosted a state banquet in honor of Emmanuel Macron. Princess Christina, the monarch’s sister, also took part – but remained almost undiscovered.
King Carl Gustaf’s sister Christina sneaks into the state banquet
While Princess Christina presented herself next to playwright Jon Fosse, 64, at the banquet for the Nobel Prize ceremony in Stockholm City Hall in December 2023, the Swedish king’s big sister now made a more inconspicuous appearance. The 80-year-old sat down at one of the lavishly decorated tables almost unnoticed. Entrepreneur Tord Magnuson’s wife, 82, was almost invisible behind an opulent bouquet of flowers.
She sits very close to Emmanuel Macron, only two seats separate her from the French President and guest of honor, who spent the evening between Queen Silvia and Princess Victoria. Some of the 170 guests were photographed upon arrival. Christina deliberately decided not to have her photo taken. “No… there are no pictures necessary,” she said to the photographers present, according to the newspaper “Svensk Damtidning”. Princess Christina seemed to be having a good time during the gala dinner. A photo published by the palace shows her laughing while chatting with the person sitting next to her.
