King Carl Gustaf’s birthday
3 things that stand out among parade guests
The Swedish royal family is celebrating the 78th birthday of their King Carl Gustaf with a parade. But the real spectacle is the royals, who watch the celebrations in interesting outfits.
There is a lot to marvel at in the courtyard of the royal palace in Stockholm on April 30, 2024: On the occasion of King Carl Gustaf, 78’s day of honor, a parade by the army choir will take place, which will be accompanied by a gun salute. The celebratory goings-on are of course followed by the Swedish royal family, with three things that particularly stand out in their looks.

On King Carl Gustaf’s birthday, these 3 things stand out among Victoria, Sofia & Co
In Sweden, the weather matches the mood: Queen Silvia, 80, is in a good mood on the balcony, as is her son Prince Carl Philip, 44, with his wife Sofia, 39. The grandchildren are also smiling and waving at the camera. The royals all seem to have coordinated with each other when it comes to fashion.
1. Siliva – the detail queen
She presents herself in the most colorful outfit of the day Queen Siliva, 80, on this solemn day. All in fuchsia, she watches the birthday parade for her husband alongside her granddaughter Estelle, 12.
The first thing that catches your eye is that Silvia has hers lipstick matched exactly to the color of her button jacket. The intense pink-purple-red color sets a beautiful accent on her otherwise very neutral make-up and makes her look particularly harmonious. But that’s not the only detail the queen paid attention to: her Flower pin with pearl above her left breast is the exact same color as the purple lilies on Princess Estelle’s blouse. The necklace, brooch and earrings also feature white pearls – when you see this harmonious look, Queen Silvia’s attention to detail was worth it!
2. Like mom
Princess Estelle enchants on her grandpa’s birthday with lots of charm and fashion sense. Who did she get that from…
Not just at high-necked cut of her blouse Princess Estelle takes her cues from her mother Crown Princess Victoria, 46. Even if it gets cooler later and they throw on a jacket, they both decide on one beige coat with wide lapels. Even though the pattern of the blouse and the collar width are different, the looks of the mother-daughter team have an undeniable similarity. Just because of the choice of materials: chiffon and wool.
3. The pragmatists Sofia and Carl Phillip
As parents of three children Princess Sofia and Prince Carl Philip always have lots of things to do. However, it is certainly particularly stressful to dress the little princes for events like this. The two have therefore come up with a pragmatic solution for Alexander, 8, Gabriel, 6, and Julian, 3.
The three brothers simply pull the same at! At their grandfather King Carl Gustaf’s birthday parade, the boys first presented themselves in white shirts with stylish black seams on the collar and button placket. When the temperatures drop later, there is exactly that same wool jacket with duffle coat closure. At least then there won’t be any arguments about who got what outfit.
