Traveling to York in northeast England on Wednesday, November 9, King Charles III and Queen Consort Camilla broke royal protocol as they waved to the crowds gathered there.

Their arrival in York, in the northeast of England, was not easy. As they greeted the crowd who had come to welcome them to the city, where they are to inaugurate a new statue of Queen Elizabeth II, who died on September 8, King Charles III and Queen Consort Camilla were targeted by egg throws. The demonstrator who launched the projectiles, who allegedly shouted that this country was built on the blood of slaves, has since been arrested by the police. For their part, neither the new monarch nor his wife were affected by the eggs.

Indeed, as reported by the site of the weekly magazine Hello!, Jason Tweedie-Long, a 5-year-old boy, traveled with his family to Micklegate, a famous street in York, to see and meet the sovereign and his wife. But the little boy is visually impaired. Knowing he wouldn’t be able to see them from the crowds of visitors, he wrote to York City Council, who then spoke to Buckingham Palace, to find out if he was possible to meet the king and queen consort in person. And his wish has been granted !

As seen in snaps shared by York City Council, Jason, dressed in a multicolored raincoat, was able to approach King Charles III and Camilla. The little boy, who showed a wide smile, was even photographed trying to hold their hand. “Jason said he felt ‘calm, happy and excited‘”, York City Council tweeted. A moment rich in emotions that little Jason will remember for a long time.
