King Charles, who is suffering from cancer, instructs his staff to accelerate plans for his trip to Australia in the fall.

King Charles III (75) could return Down Under with his wife, Queen Camilla (76), in just a few months. Now that his cancer treatment is said to be going well, he is “ready to go” for a two-week state visit in October to Australia, New Zealand and Samoa.

According to reports, he has already told his employees that he is “pushing ahead at full speed” with his travel plans. The king said he couldn’t wait after “taking an extended break due to his cancer diagnosis.” a source from The Sun.

Attending the Easter service gives him strength

The king is said to be “optimistic” since he was able to go out in public on Easter Sunday and even shake hands. “He is feeling very good since the tests showed that he can take part in the Easter service and finally spend time with people again,” the source is quoted as saying.

The monarch is said to be “overjoyed with how the treatment went.” Charles responded “very promisingly” to the treatment and so the doctors were able to adjust their instructions about what he was allowed to do and what he wasn’t allowed to do. “Caution is advised,” but “the path ahead looks positive.”

Important trip to Australia for Charles

The upcoming trip will therefore be significantly different from the royals’ usual state visits and will include “significant downtime,” said an insider. The trip to Australia is considered one of the most important for the king, as his late mother, Queen Elizabeth II (1926-2022), visited the country 16 times during her reign. And more than a year after her death, she remains the only reigning monarch to have visited the country.

On Tuesday, the King announced the appointment of Sam Mostyn, 59, as the next Governor General of Australia. She will officially take office as representative of the British monarch in July.
