King Charles III is back in London. The monarch is scheduled to undergo surgery later this week for an enlarged prostate.

Shortly before his upcoming prostate operation, King Charles III. (75) traveled back to London on Thursday. The monarch was flown back to the capital by helicopter from his country estate in Sandringham – presumably for the procedure announced for this week. There he drove to Buckingham Palace in a limousine. “The Sun” has several photos that show Charles in the back seat of the car.

Prostate surgery this week

The palace announced last Wednesday, about a week ago, that King Charles was being treated in hospital for a benign enlargement of the prostate. “A surgical procedure” is to be carried out this week. Following this, Charles will temporarily postpone his public appearances to recover from the operation, an official statement said.

At the beginning of this week, his wife Camilla (76) also gave the all-clear at a public meeting. She said Charles would be fine and looked forward to returning to his royal duties after his procedure. The palace has not announced a specific date for Charles’ operation.

Kate is also out until Easter

In addition to Charles, his daughter-in-law, Princess Kate (42), is currently unable to attend public appointments. The wife of Prince William (41), Charles’ son, recently underwent abdominal surgery and is currently recovering in a private hospital in London. According to media reports, William has also cleared his royal schedule so that he can better look after the children in his wife’s absence. Princess Kate is not expected to return to the public until just before Easter. Royal experts assume that William will only resume his royal duties after Kate returns from the hospital.
