King Charles also honors the late Tina Turner. The Welsh Guards band performed a version of the hit “The Best”.

Touching Recognition from King Charles, 74: The Band of the Welsh Guards have honored the late Tina Turner, † 83, along with the 1st Battalion of the Welsh Guards Corps of Drums. Together, the musicians played Turner’s hit “The Best” at a ceremonial changing of the guard. A clip posted on Twitter by the British Forces Broadcasting Service shows the performance.

King Charles, 74, allowed the musicians to honor the legendary singer in this extraordinary way, as reported by the US magazine “People”. The monarch first met Turner in 1986. For the tenth anniversary of the non-profit organization The Prince’s Trust, founded by Charles, an “All-Star” concert took place in the Wembley Arena, at which Turner, Elton John, 76, Rod Stewart, 78, and Paul McCartney, 80, occurred.

For heir to the throne Prince William, 40, “The Best” meanwhile has a special meaning. In the “Time to Walk” series from Apple Fitness+, he said at the end of 2021 that his mother Princess Diana, † 36, played the song for him and his brother Prince Harry, 38, on the way to school take away their fears.

Tina Turner died a few days ago at the age of 83 in her adopted country of Switzerland. “It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Tina Turner,” read a post on her Instagram account. She has enchanted millions of people around the world “and inspired the stars of tomorrow”.
