King Charles
Two new Coronation Portraits released
King Charles and Queen Camilla have released two more official coronation portraits that also feature their grandchildren.
Four days after the British royal family released the first official coronation portraits, Buckingham Palace is releasing two more recordings of the historic event on Friday evening, May 12, 2023.
King Charles poses with his heirs
And how historical the pictures by photographer Hugo Burnand are! In one of the new photos, newly crowned King Charles, 74, poses with his eldest son Prince William, 40, and grandson Prince George, 9, in the Throne Room at Buckingham Palace. A recording for the history books, William and George will eventually be the next two Kings of Britain – as the line of succession would have it.
The last time a similar photo was published was in 2020, when Queen Elizabeth, † 96, posed with her heirs Charles, George and William.
The royal couple are photographed with their page of honour
The second portrait features King Charles and Queen Camilla, 75, with their page honours, and Camilla’s “Ladies in Attendance.” Ralph Tollemache, Lord Oliver Cholmondeley, Nicholas Barclay and Prince George pose next to the monarch, next to Camilla are Freddy Parker Bowles, Arthur Elliot and their grandsons Gus, 13, and Louis Lopes, 13. The royal couple is also surrounded by Lady Lansdowne, 68, and Annabel Elliot, 74, Camilla’s sister.
On Monday evening, May 8, 2023, the first coronation portraits were published. One photograph shows King Charles in his coronation robes holding the Imperial State Crown, the Sovereign’s Staff and the Sovereign’s Orb, another shows Queen Camilla standing in her robes, and another shows the royal couple together. For the third shot, a family portrait, all the working royals have gathered. King Charles and Queen Camilla are joined by their Inner Circle, consisting of Prince William, Catherine, Princess of Wales, 41, Princess Anne, 72, Sir Timothy Laurence, 68, Prince Edward, 59, Duchess Sophie, 58, Princess Alexandra, 86, the Duke of Kent, 87, and the Duke, 78, and Duchess of Gloucester, 76.
