Shortly after the palace shared a tearful video of King Charles, 75, the monarch spoke out personally on another matter. “The determination and strength of the Ukrainian people continues to be impressive in the third year of unprovoked attacks on their land, lives and livelihoods,” said his latest statement posted on the Royal Family’s official Instagram account.

“Despite the tremendous hardship and pain inflicted on them, Ukrainians continue to demonstrate the heroism with which the world so closely associates them. This is true heroism in the face of unspeakable aggression. I have seen this in the many encounters I have had since the beginning of the war with Ukrainians, from President Zelenskyy and Mrs Zelenska to new recruits being trained here in the UK. I continue to be very encouraged that the UK and our allies are joining the international effort to support the Ukraine continues to be at the forefront in this time of great suffering and hardship. My thoughts and prayers are with all those affected,” it continued.

Katharine is married to Edward, Duke of Kent, 88.
