King Frederik of Denmark
Tenderness during the state visit to Sweden
King Frederik and Queen Mary were on a state visit to Sweden. There the Danish royal couple showed their best side.
For the second day of her visit to Sweden, Mary opted for a long-sleeved red dress. She also wore a brown cover-up, matching shoes and a handbag. The Queen posed for the photographers together with her husband and the Swedish monarchs.
Frederik and Mary’s state visit to Sweden is the royal couple’s first trip together since the proclamation in January and the first time that the new king will meet another monarch.
The two days were packed with appointments for the royals: On Monday evening, the visit began with a festive gala dinner in Stockholm. Before lunch together on May 7th, Queen Mary visited the Prinz Eugen Waldemarsudde Museum with Queen Silvia, according to media reports. Meanwhile, their husbands visited a regiment. Meetings with Swedish politicians were also on the agenda.
Love for 24 years
King Frederik met the commoner Mary in a bar in 2000 during the Olympic Games in Australia. They kept their relationship secret for a year. The engagement was finally announced in 2003, and a year later the royal dream wedding took place in Copenhagen Cathedral. The two have four children: Crown Prince Christian (18), Princess Isabella (17) and the twins Prince Vincent and Princess Josephine (13).
