Kingdom Hearts IV: Japanese fans have found the hidden message left by Tetsuya Nomura

The trailer of Kingdom Hearts IV released last Sunday has been the source of much speculation from fans as to where Sora’s adventures will go next. Although convoluted in some aspects, the game’s storyline is far from easy to predict because the creator of the series, Tetsuya Nomura, likes to leave different secrets whether in trailers or hidden messages. Fortunately, we can count on determined fans to unearth them like the latest.

The X shows the voice

During the celebration of the twentieth anniversary of the saga Kingdom Hearts, Tetsuya Nomura left a message (see above) in Japanese on a statue of Sora. On the third line from the end, we can see a rather cryptic “X” coming out of nowhere. In an interview with Famitsu, Nomura confirms that this is a hidden message whose solution has not yet been found by fans (and even his team).

Shortly after, several Japanese fans nevertheless managed to crack the code. Indeed, by converting Nomura’s message into Hiragana (one of the four scripts of Japanese), then placing the X on the text, we get the hidden message: “Beware, the voice’s true identity is Sigurd” (via kh13.com).

In order to know how to place it in the text, keep in mind that after the X present in the message, the number 20 appears. It translates into Japanese as “ni juu”. By separating “nii” and “juu”, we obtain, by translating, the numbers 2 and 10. To draw the first diagonal, we therefore start from the 2nd Hiragana to finish on the 10th (circled in orange above). All that remains is to copy this line and make a rotation to obtain a well symmetrical X in order to unlock the rest of the message.

To return to the content of the latter, know that Sigurd is a character residing in Scala ad Caelum and introduced in the latest mobile game update Kingdom Hearts Union χ. He meets Brain during the epilogue of the game and we don’t know much about this very mysterious man. Tetsuya Nomura had actually revealed that the voice of one of the hooded men in the trailer was a character already encountered in the series. However, it was difficult to imagine that it was him.

Now it remains to be seen what his role will be. In any case, it seems important. In any case, we can pay tribute to the Japanese designer who wracks his brains to give grain to grind to the community.
