The Kingsman spy saga signed by Matthew Vaughn and worn by Taron Egerton is not an original creation, it is indeed based on a series of comics called The Secret Service.

2017 Twentieth Century Fox

Kingsman is the franchise that brought British actor Taron Egerton to the public. In two films released in 2015 and 2017, director Matthew Vaughn has created a humorous version of James Bond that perfectly balances action and jokes. And for that, he was inspired (very freely) by a comic book!

Because yes, the Kingsman saga was not born in the cinema, it is about an adaptation of comics. Released in 2012 under Marvel’s Icon Comics label, it is soberly titled The Secret Service. Written by the famous Mark Millar (Civil War, Kick-Ass, Wanted), the story is drawn by Dave Gibbons (Watchmen) and colorized by Angus McKie (The Blue Lily).

The pages of the first volume feature secret agent Jack London, who is working on the most exciting case of his career. At the same time, he trains his nephew Gary to become a super spy. Together, they will investigate the disappearance of many celebrities and uncover a gigantic conspiracy.

Six volumes have been published, edited in France by Panini Comics in parallel with the release of Kingsman – Secret Service in 2015. It is followed in 2017 by Kingsman – The Golden Circle, which really takes liberties with the original work but appeals to the public, since it allows the film to collect 410 million dollars in the world.

A third film, a sequel to the above two, could follow, but before that, director Matthew Vaughn released The King’s Man: First Mission, a prequel set a hundred years before the first film, which tells about a mission led by Orlando Oxford, founder of KINGSMAN , the British intelligence elite.

The King’s Man: First Mission is currently in theaters:
