If you already know NIU for its scooters and the like electric scooters
, you may be sensitive to the latest innovation from the Chinese manufacturer: a electric bike
.

Called “BQi”, the bike does not yet have a market date.

A new electric bike in the European and North American markets

A refined design for a clear desire for conquest, such seems to be the principle adopted by NIU, already famous in the urban electric mobility market, for its new vehicle: the BQi. This electric bike first of all has the particularity of having a V-shaped frame, making it easier to get on thanks to the absence of a top tube.

You can see the model briefly appear on this video made by Electrek during the last edition of the EICMA show in Milan, from 6.39 minutes and lasting about a minute, thus revealing some technical details. The BQi should in particular benefit from a duo of batteries capable of increasing its range to around 100 kilometers. However, the exact storage capacity of these batteries has not yet been communicated.

Moreover, to adapt to the specific rules in force, the European version of the BQi should be limited to a 250 W motor, allowing it to reach a top speed of around 25 km / h.

A price that should be around 1,500 euros

On the North American market side, a 500W motor should be fitted to the BQi. What offer him peaks of speed of up to 45 km / h. In any case, unlike the first photos unveiled, this electric bike should have pedals. Hydraulic disc brakes are also available for everyone, as well as a toothed carbon belt instead of the traditional chain.

As for the price, NIU announces a launch of its new product at 1,500 euros, or approximately 1,700 US dollars. Something to arouse some interest, especially since the luggage rack located at the back allows you to transport a basket, very practical for urban use such as a picnic in the countryside. Despite the global crisis that the production of certain components is going through, NIU should offer this electric bike in its catalog in 2022. Its participation in the next edition of CES in Las Vegas may allow us to learn more about the characteristics of the BQi .
