Konyks Firesafe 2, the new connected smoke detector adopts Bluetooth

Smoke detectors have been mandatory in all homes since 2016 and make it possible to alert their occupants of a possible fire outbreak. The connected models also offer other functionalities, as is the case with the Firesafe 2 just unveiled by Konyks. This smoke detector is able to connect to the home wifi network, and to facilitate its configuration and pair it quickly, Konyks has equipped it with Bluetooth connectivity. No hub or gateway is needed to make it work.

The design is also evolving and gaining a more modern look, with more discreet air intake holes and sharper angles. If the first Firesafe was powered by two AA Lithium batteries which gave it two years of autonomy, the Firesafe 2 houses a CR123A lithium battery, supplied with the device and which should offer him five years of peace of mind.

Increased security and remote alert

A connected smoke detector has the advantage of being linked to a smartphone application. It is through it that the user receives alerts, and not only when the battery is low. Thus, a notification is sent to him in the event of smoke detection when no one is in the accommodation, which allows emergency services to intervene as quickly as possible.

When the home is manned, other alerts can supplement the audible signal as needed and help occupants respond quickly. It is indeed possible to create scenarios with other connected objects, lighting in particular, to activate them in the event of smoke detection. In the middle of the night, this could for example promote the awakening of sleepers, even in a room too far from the detector to hear its sound signal.

The Konyks Firesafe 2 is available for sale on the manufacturer’s website or in the Amazon online store, at the recommended retail price of €59.90. Using the Konyks app does not require a subscription.
