“Krone” on the go – the people of Viehhofen are proud to refuse to party

The town in front of Saalbach is proud of the fact that things are quieter than in the stronghold of winter sports. Ambitious construction projects should not change that.

In the past, says Mayor Reinhard Breitfuss, “people only came to us when Saalbach was full!” Those times are definitely over in Viehhofen. The tranquil community at the beginning of the Glemmtal has long since made a name for itself as an independent holiday destination. The accusation that there is nothing going on has become a strength in Viehhofen. “There’s no fuss with us, the parties are on in Saalbach. With us, people prefer to have a glass of wine in the evening,” says Breitfuss about the image of the place that refuses to party. Nothing should change in the future – keyword Ski World Cup 2025. There are ambitious construction projects, but none of them should only be created for the purpose of the ski festival. “A hotel was sold, yes, but an apartment hotel with 120 beds is being built on the site,” says Breitfuss. Its focus is on the 600 residents. A new municipal office is being built on the village square, which will also offer space for offices and an urgently needed local supplier. But there is one problem – Breitfuss: “The first cost estimates of six to seven million euros could not be kept, we are more like twelve million. Unfortunately, the supplier M-Preis is no longer on board, and we are now looking around for a replacement.” Construction is scheduled to start in the spring millions, we can’t refurbish everything at once.”
