On Saturday night, unknown people tore an Israeli flag from the Vienna City Temple. Police confirmed the incident to media after a video of it surfaced online. It was posted by Bini Guttmann, a Vienna board member of the “World Jewish Congress.”
“Last night there was an anti-Semitic attack on the Vienna City Temple (…). The situation is also serious for Jews in Europe,” he wrote about the video on Saturday evening. It shows two young men tearing down the Israel flag over the door of the Jewish temple. The City Temple is the main synagogue in Vienna and is located on Seitenstettengasse in the 1st district.
