For Valentine’s Day, Todd Philips gave us an unseen photo of his next movie couple: Lady Gaga and Joaquin Phoenix, aka Harley Quinn and the Joker in the sequel to his Oscar-winning film.
From Poker Face to Joker’s Face. On October 2, 2024, Lady Gaga will be Harley Quinn opposite Joaquin Phoenix, who will take over the role which had earned him an Oscar for Best Actor, for a sequel entitled Folie à Deux, in French in the text. A feature film currently being shot under the direction of Todd Phillips, who has unveiled a photo of his movie couple for Valentine’s Day.
While the first opus in the form of an origin story was enough in itself, Warner, DC, Todd Phillips and Joaquin Phoenix decided to put the cover back in a sequel. Still without Batman, a priori, but with Harley Quinn and between the walls of Arkham Asylum, the time of a… musical film.
Enough to avoid repetition and take the franchise in another direction, even if how the music will fit into the story of this new Joker remains a mystery at present. Will it be used to illustrate the madness of the characters? To be an expression of the growing love between them? A bit of both ?
There is no doubt that the first trailer will be able to give us some answers. But we will have to be patient: the release being planned in more than a year and a half, the images may not arrive immediately. Although we can expect a photo of Lady Gaga in a Harley Quinn costume to appear soon.
