The right side of the wooden boat is torn open when the emergency services found Antonio T. * († 37) ‘s small boat on Lake Garda on Sunday morning. And it is immediately clear: something bad must have happened. The owner of a heating company lies lifeless on his back. There is no trace of his girlfriend, the student Francesca R. * († 25). The couple had been out on Saturday. But it did not return from its excursion. The reason: a horror crash.
The investigators assume that around 11 p.m. a motor boat must have hit the wooden boat at high speed. The 37-year-old was apparently immediately dead by the impact. His girlfriend was thrown into the water and drowned. Divers found her body after hours of searching at a depth of about 100 meters.
Germans are not very cooperative
Two German tourists are said to be responsible for the death of the two Italians, as reported by “La Republica”. The investigators were already on the trail of the two friends on Sunday morning.
Traces of the destroyed wooden boat were found on the 52-year-old’s boat. How exactly the accident happened is not yet known. Not even why the Germans didn’t get help. Didn’t they even notice the horror crash? The tourists have already been interviewed, but are said to be not very cooperative, such as «La Repubblica»Reported.
Were the tourists drunk?
Instead of getting help, the Germans went to have a drink after the accident when they got to the port. This is reported by the «Corriere della Sera». The two friends had come to Benaco, as they have often done before, for the Mille Miglia, a famous historic car race.
